Eric Carle Week

Wrapping up the year with a two week Eric Carle Unit is always the funnest thing! I love Eric Carle and found some cute activities to go with his books. This was the second to the last week of school. The last week was crazy with field day, award assemblies, school wide talent show and more! Stay tuned for possibly some summer pics....

The Grouchy Ladybug - the beginning, middle and end of the story attached to their own ladybug they made.

Rooster Off to See the World-They wrote where they would like to visit, drew things in the suitcase they should take and then wrote those items under the suitcase.

A House for Hermit Crab-they put the months in order and drew a picture to go with each month and then made the crab.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar-they sequence the days and the things he ate on those days and the wrote about the story and attached to a caterpillar. We used old scrapbook paper I had to make the caterpillar.

Texas Unit

We did a two week unit on Texas in May. This is not part of the Texas Kindergarten standards but I had run out of Social Studies lessons so I planned this many unit and it was well worth it. I even had a student go to Austin during the unit and her mother came in and told me she insisted they go to the State capital building!
Texas State Flower-Bluebonnet pictures

Texas State book in the shape of Texas. This was the wrap up activity for the unit.

 Prickly Pear Cactus of Texas

What's Cookin in Texas. They had to match the state foods with the pictures.

The Texas State Flag and Pledge

 Texas Symbols Flip Book
Texas State Motto Friendship. The traced their hand and a friends hand and then glued them on a paper and wrote about what friendship means.

The Six Flags of Texas flap book. They colored the flags and then glued them on the outside and then glued the name of the country and the years their flag hung over Texas inside the flap.

The Sun

We also discussed the sun in our day and night unit. I found this cute activity on pinterest (yes, another one!) and they had to make the sun and then describe it.

Noctural and Diurnal Animals

Part of the unit on Day and Night in Science was a discussion on nocturnal and diurnal animals. We then did this picture sort.
